Data Science - A Lack of the Correct People to Fill Company Needs

There is a looming shortage of data scientists and business intelligence professionals. For a number of years now demand has been outpacing supply at a growing rate. Firms can begin to use new available technologies in order to reduce the need for specialists. There is now the tools available to analyse data, meaning company’s requirements for data and analytical specialists can be reduced in a highly cost effective manner.

As Rosencrance (2011) explains there are incredible opportunities to use data to make better business decisions. The organisations that best use the vast amounts of data available are often the most effective and successful. For example, within the collections industry, using consumer data in a dynamic manner helps to drastically improve collections rates.

From the prospective of trace, tracehunter is a comprehensive solution, once we have set the system up and integrated it with your current processes. It can be used to generate a vast selection of reports. tracehunter not only collects a complete audit trail of each trace activity, but can also be used to automate the reporting of almost any combination of data it collects.

Difference of Opinion - Trace

The methods used to trace a debtor have changed much in the last 10 years, from a period of bulk lettering relatives and neighbours to a time where databases have become the integral part for all most all bulk trace work.

However, conflicting opinions on compliance have led to a period of very differing ideas of success. Some firms chase a debt with little more than a new credit reference link in the past year. Whereas more due diligent firms need at least two points of contact with at least one of these being phone contact before they begin to chase a debt. This latter option may seem more expensive; however, it would seem to pay for its self in the long run through improved collection rates and reduced mis-trace rates.

Compliance and Debt Collection

84 percent of compliance professionals believe in the coming year they will have more compliance issues to consider. With nearly 50% of those believing there will be significantly higher levels of compliance requirements. Combined with the fact that most compliance professionals believe, that their resources and budget will likely stay unchanged in the coming year is putting even greater pressure on already stretched departments.

If just the rules and regulations set by the OFT, FSA, CSA and DBSG are taken in to account the mind field of compliance issues and worries is quite extensive. However, they are there for a reason and help to simplify best practice. Over recent years many changes have happened to improve the image of the industry and surely this can only be a good thing. A company which operates in the best interest of its customers will have little to fear and to do this the correct processes are required to be in place.

During this review the use of tracehunter was called in to question, there was a possibility of the system no longer being used, if they found a cost effective alternative on the market. They came back to us once they had completed the review to say not only were they going to continue to use tracehunter but they were unable to find a system that even came close to tracehunter’s functionality.
